What helps you get through life? Who lifts you up when you've fallen? What have you survived that you thought you wouldn't? These are just a few of the feathers in your wings. Your wings are the things you use and the people you have in your life helping you live...they are your strength. Find your wings. It takes the same amount of time and effort to carry your burdens as it does to over come them. The time will pass anyway. The only difference is whether you decide to focus your efforts on the solutions or on the problems. ~~Scott Niolet~~ Picture taken in Collingwood, ON Hello and Happy Friday to you! How has your week been? Are you ready for some down time? I am! And I'm starting it early by taking the day off and having a ME Day. What are your plans this weekend? Do you have any? If you don't..may I make a suggestion? Go do at least one thing that makes you feel good...something that helps to soothe your pain...something that makes you smile. When life hurts it's up to us to do what we need to help us through it and taking good care of our personal needs is a step in the right direction. So...give it some thought okay and go do something just for you. Taking the time for your needs does not mean you're selfish and it does not mean you're lazy...or even that you're being mean if you say "no" to someone...it just means you love yourself enough to do what you need for you. So...love yourself enough will ya please and take good care of you. Tammy I may not be who I ought to be. I know I'm not all that I want to be. But I've come a long way from who I used to be. And I won't give up on becoming what I know I can be. ~~Unknown~~ Picture taken on the pond As you know many of the pain medications prescribed for us can cause us to become constipated and for some chronically so. Constipation is a side-effect of many different types of medications... not just painkillers. Now some people will reach for laxatives and others will try a more natural remedy. How you choose to deal with your constipation is your choice...but please know there are natural alternatives and some are as easy as including certain foods into your daily diet.
Please take a look at the following information and see if there are any steps you can take for you to be a little more regular with your body. If you live with severe or constant constipation please speak to your doctor or medical team. If you haven't had a bowel movement in three days and the remedies you try are not working....please seek medical care. I wanted to share this information to go along with the constipation entry and link it to the abuse, addiction and dependency series. This information is not meant to take the place of direct medical care or that of a dietitian. It is shared for your personal information and entertainment only. If you have any questions please speak to your doctor or a qualified medical professional. When I first saw this I laughed and said something a little inappropriate. But it is true...rarely do I ever have a thought by itself. Do you? Yeah I didn't think so. I think we're all guilty of this and some of us are better at ending the thought train...while others seem to drive the train till it crashes...taking them with it. Thinking is great...it's good for you!...but sometimes we can get lost in our thoughts and trying to explain them can be difficult at times. When this happens what do you do? Do you end up over explaining things...sharing information that really isn't needed? Do you talk too much or so fast that you become an inarticulate mess? yeah me too...it happens. But when it does...what do you do? how do you slow your thoughts so you can talk or do you? I think we can avoid becoming an inarticulate mess but it takes practice. I am strong because I know my weaknesses. I'm alive because I'm a fighter. I love unconditionally because I have had hate directed towards me. I am wise because I've been foolish. And I laugh because I've known sadness. Everything I have lived through has taught me lessons. We just don't go through life...we grow through life. ~~Unknown~~ Picture taken by my daughter Emily When I was in college, the morning after the night before usually came from either a night of drinking or pulling an all nighter for an exam. When my daughter was born, it came after a sleepless night with a crying baby walking the hall or midnight feedings. But when my injury happened...I learned a whole new definition of the phrase..."the morning after the night before".
For me...the morning after the night before...I'm physically exhausted...emotionally spent...and mentally burnt out. My eyes are usually puffy, red and swollen and I've got a headache. My brain hurts from thinking and I'm left feeling weak to say the least. I'm tired beyond being tired and I hurt. What causes my nights like that? well...sometimes it's my thoughts keeping me up going around my head...and other times it's my body and the pain I feel. There are nights too when it's both combined and I can't cope...I can't sleep...I'm hurting too much. When these nights come I'm so glad for my computer and the internet...being able to do this website and the Facebook page too have helped tremendously. Sometimes I turn to my music and occupy my mind with something else...sometimes I'll catch up with my PVR...and other times I'll go for a soak in the tub. Relaxation and visualization of the beach is a thought I use most often to calm these nights. My coping skills are what gets me through the night and into the day after. |
