I found this article today and thought it something to share with you.
If you were to take a guess...how much would you say you have spent so far this year on alternative medicines to treat and/or manage your pain/illness? Would you agree that our illnesses are a money making business? $30 billion dollars worth?

Before we get to the medication I need to remind you...
For this installment, I have chosen Epitol GENERIC NAME(S): CARBAMAZEPINE Uses Carbamazepine is used to prevent and control seizures. This medication is known as an anticonvulsant or anti-epileptic drug. It is also used to relieve certain types of nerve pain (such as trigeminal neuralgia). This medication works by reducing the spread of seizure activity in the brain and restoring the normal balance of nerve activity. OTHER USES: This section contains uses of this drug that are not listed in the approved professional labeling for the drug but that may be prescribed by your health care professional. Use this drug for a condition that is listed in this section only if it has been so prescribed by your health care professional. You know when the path you are walking is healing you, because you stop looking back at what happened and start looking forward to what's coming. ~~Kate Spencer~~ Picture taken on the pond. I'm living with something that others can't see but question, something even my own doctor struggles with at times, something that I can manage to convincingly "cover"... but just because my pain cannot be seen, doesn't mean I have to validate its existence to you. Now some may think that comment is filled with attitude...but really? I don't have to and nor do you. We do not have to validate the existence of our pain. Simply put...just because something can't be seen, does not mean its existence isn't possible. And just because you may not or cannot see it...does not mean its existence needs to be validated. It does not make it any less real for those who are living with it. Today we believe God wants you to know that it's important to listen to your gut. Reason has its place in this world, certainly. But your gut is that subconscious part of yourself that knows exactly what is right for you. And often times God speaks to you through that subtle but true gut feeling. Picture taken in Collingwood, ON Living a hurting life can make getting active and exercising difficult and often painful for us. Do you find this as well? Whether you're living with Fibro or not...do you exercise? Should you exercise?
Before starting any exercise routine, please speak to your doctor to ensure that what you are considering is safe for you to do. Our exercise programs should challenge our limitations but also be within our abilities. The goal is to keep our joints moving and our muscles from deteriorating...not to become the next Ninja Warrior. Today I'd like to share some information about easy home exercises when you're living with pain. This article is geared for Fibro, but the information here is good for any of us. If you have questions about what you read here, please talk to your doctor. Decide not to complain about anything today. Instead, come up with some ideas for using your time more productively. When you find yourself ready to complain about anything, stop and think of a way to replace that negative complaint with a positive suggestion. Just imagine how powerfully and positively that simple step could influence your work and your relationships with others. Think of how much it could reduce your level of stress. And what about all of those silent complaints you utter to yourself? Rather than letting them steal your precious time, resolve to do something about them. When you find a complaint coming on, step forward and take positive, productive action instead. Use your time and energy for accomplishing great things, not for worrying about blame or spreading criticism. Whenever you have the urge to complain, stop right where you are. Challenge yourself to come up with a positive alternative. Make it into an opportunity, turn it into an accomplishment. Rather than looking behind you and complaining about it. Look ahead and do something positive about it, because.... You have GREATNESS with you! ~~Les Brown~~ Picture taken in Collingwood, ON The Facebook page hit another milestone...12,000 friends. To see it happen this quickly is a surprise...but it's a welcomed one. Thank you for sharing your time with me. I hope that by sharing the Facebook page and the website with you...that you are beginning to take a new and different journey with your pain. We can't change that we hurt, but I do believe we can learn to change how we respond to our pain and how we live with it too. I hope that by sharing this site with you that you are feeling empowered to take on your own pain in a new and challenging way. I'm not here to tell you how to live your life...I'm not a doctor. I'm just like you and I hurt too and I am living my hurting life the best I can...but I wasn't always able to say that. There were years when I had given up and given in. I didn't want a hurting life and I was ready to quit. I'm not saying I'm wanting a hurting life now...but I am wanting the life I have...whether I hurt or not. And it took learning how to live with my pain for me to be able to say that. |
