How many times have you consciously sat and thought about something in life throwing the thought "I can do this...or I can do this..." around? What were you considering at the time? What did your thoughts sound like? I know I'm not the only one who has talked to themselves either so I know you've done this at one point in time or another...but seriously... What did your thoughts sound like? Did any of them go something like the column on the left? Did any of your thoughts go something like the right column? What did your thoughts sound like?
We often complain that our illness/injury has changed us and that we have no control anymore in our lives...obviously I'd argue that. When you think about this exercise...please give thought to how you can change from doing this....to doing this.
take good care of you I found this on line today and shared it to the facebook page too. I've enlarged the pic so you can clearly see the words. THIS MESSAGE IS IMPORTANT It's okay to cry...it doesn't make you weak, unmanly, girly, or anything else you may have heard. What it makes you is human and if you haven't noticed it yet guys...you are human! Do men not feel scared at times too? Do you guys always have the answers to life's questions? Can you fix everything?....YES...NO...and NO...see you're just as human as us women are... we feel scared too...we can't fix everything and we certainly don't have all the answers either. So if it's okay for us women to come crying to the men in our lives...admitting we're scared and we don't have all the answers....why is not okay for men to do the same? Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have.... life it's self. ~~Unknown~~ a Wasaga beach sunset This is a little something I wrote and I'd like to challenge you to do something just for you every day...something that puts a smile on your silly little heart...something that allows you laugh and enjoy your life...do something just for you...every day! it's a feel good thing and you need this If they made a monster out of you because you walked away from their drama, so be it. Let them deal with what they have created. Be at peace with yourself, and stay out of the conflict. ~~Dodinsky~~ Beach therapy at Port Stanley, ON What do the words recover and recovery mean to you? Would you say that you have recovered? Are you recovering? Wherever you may be in your healing, please know that we all heal at different times and in different ways. Please do not compare your journey to recovery to anyone else. Life is different now isn't it? Recovery takes time and your patience is needed...as is your care towards yourself. Take the time you need to heal yourself at your own pace and get to know and love the "new" you. If you're waiting...hoping...wishing and praying for a cure so you don't have to do the work...you're wasting precious time. There may never be a "cure". But the one thing you can count on to get you through this is YOU! Now that your pain/illness is a part of your life...you can learn to manage, prepare for and even cope with what this now means to your life....you CAN do this! Give thought to what the words recover and recovery mean to you. Are your thoughts realistic for your life moving forward? What can you do to help yourself recover or even when you experience struggles during your recovery? |
