Can I ask you something?

Every once in awhile I like to check in and see how things are going. I usually drop a bunch of questions when I do this, but it's meant only to get you thinking about how you are living with your pain.

Let's see how you're managing lately...
  • Have you incorporated any alternative treatments into your pain management routine? What works for you? ex..chiropractor, massage therapy, visualization for relaxation, meditation, yoga, exercise, music/art therapy, medicinal cannabis, injections/infusions
  • Have you been able to decrease your "need" for medication as you learn other ways to manage your pain?
  • What soothes your pain? emotionally, mentally and physically...what calms you?
  • Have you identified those people in your life you can turn to for help? have you approached them yet?
  • What changes have you made to your eating and exercise habits?
  • How about the way you talk to yourself? Do you speak encouragingly and with care to yourself or do you beat yourself up for all that you no longer feel you are? Do you think you're worth this effort?

What causes our pain will be different but there are ways in which we can learn to cope with and even manage it. How are you managing lately? Give it some thought okay? If you're saying you're not managing well, may I ask what you're going to do to change that?

take good care of you okay?

It's one day at a time. That's so cliché but true. The only way I make it through is to welcome each day as a challenge. For me, I have tried every option there is to treat my pain and pain medication is the only way I have life. At 60 years old with many conditions working against me I am still the boss. I will always be the boss of me. That's my bottom line.

1) I have been through a plethora of medications, treatments and alternatives but have found that vitamins and mild pain relievers help the most with the least amount of side effects. Also, gentle stretching, walking and small weights help maintain health and muscle ;)
2) By doing as mentioned as above - I have gone from opioids (and then some) down to 1 pain killer (and vitamins) :)
3) What soothes/calms me? Music - there is nothing else in this world that makes one feel an abundance of emotions to either work through or understand and release and oh - dont forget about happiness ;)
4) I have my husband, kids and FB friends...one for every occasion! lol ;) (funny but true!) ;)
5) have always been ok with eating but have chosen to eat healthier and gentle exercises help (along with lots of walking) :D
6) I always try to talk positive to myself - but this is my shortcoming as I have always had a low self - esteem but am forever working on it! xoxox

After 20+ years of chronic pain, I have finally given in & started seeing a Chiropractor......all I asked was that they NOT crack my back.....so we've been using other forms of treatment, and they appear to be helping. Did the injections years ago, with no relief.....would definitely try Medical Cannabis if it were legal in my state. Thinking about trying acupuncture. Haven't been on any pain meds for years.....doctors don't want to prescribe it anymore. They're afraid you'll become addicted.....stupid....just stupid. I have no one I can turn to for help, becuz they just don't get it.....they think I have a back ache........really? a back ache that continues for 20+ years???? give me a break. I've done the diet & exercise thing multiple times over the years....doesn't really ease the pain. There is no one who takes BETTER care of ME, than ME.....so one day at a time, I keep on keeping on <3
