Scripts for this....Scripts for that....

Has this ever happened to you? Have you ever needed a medication to help counteract the side effects of another?

I have.

Did you take the script to stop the side-effects? Did it work? Did you feel better?

Have you ever needed a script to counter balance a script used to counter balance another one?

It does happen and the effects are disastrous. The impact on our bodies is traumatic and our health declines further.

Has this ever happened to you?

Please understand that I am not saying medications don't have a place in our treatment...they do. However, I also believe that we are often over-prescribed. Pills for the illness and then pills for the illness the pills cause. Does this make sense to you? I struggle with accepting this. What are your thoughts?

Do you have prescriptions that are causing you to be sicker? Do your prescriptions work in the manner in which they are intended? Do the benefits of taking the medication out-weight the side-effects? Serious questions I know, but they are important. Please give thought to your medications and how you are using them, and how you are being affected by them.

When our bodies react negatively to some prescriptions I think it's our body's way of saying "stop"...this is not healthy for me. Yet we often don't listen. We want to be pain free and we want it now...and that means we are often willing to take whatever pill is suggested regardless of the consequences. We are a quick fix society and this is causing us harm.

Often when taking some medications, we need to recover from them. Some medications can have a damaging effect on our liver, kidneys, blood and more. Have you ever needed to recover from taking a medication? Have you fully recovered? Did a medication ever cause a secondary illness for you by taking it? What effects do your medications have on your body? Are you aware of them? Are these things something you can live with?

Medications do have a place in our society and the choice to use prescription medications is yours to make. I do ask though...that you make your choices with information and understanding. Your doctor will only prescribe a medication if he/she believes the benefits outweigh the risks...that being said however... YOU are the one living with the side-effects. The choice is yours whether a pill is worth what you go through to receive whatever benefit it may provide and the choice is yours to make if you are not able to live with the effects.

There are options beyond a pill bottle that won't need another script to counter balance them. I hope you will explore yours.

take good care of you okay?
