When you're feeling angry...how do you handle it? What do you say to yourself?

The words we use when we're feeling our emotions can either empower us or they can bury us.

Yes...anger is an emotion...and not a comfortable one.

How do you handle it?...or does your anger handle you?

How does your body feel when you're angry? Do you feel hot? Is your heart pounding? Do you feel scared? Give thought to how your body responds to this emotion.

When you're feeling angry...would you say you're thinking or reacting? If you're like most people you react first and think after. Now I'm not saying you respond this way all the time...but it happens...doesn't it?

What words do you use when you're feeling angry? How do you talk to you? How do you talk to others?

We may not always respond to our anger appropriately...especially if our pain is high. Is this true for you? If you're saying yes...even if it only happens the odd time...don't beat yourself up for it okay? That won't change things that have already happened but maybe you can change how it will happen in the future.

If your anger does get the better of you...I hope you're big enough to acknowledge that and to apologize when you need to. Losing ourselves to our emotions happens and we need to take responsibility when it does....but keep in mind too that it doesn't make you any less of a person for it happening. OKAY?!?!

Life happens and sometimes it pisses us off...let's be honest okay? Life isn't always a bed a roses and we're often pricked by its thorns...BUT...we can learn to handle the emotions that come with life and we can learn to handle our anger in a better way.

We're human...which means we will feel all the emotions that come with being human...and anger is one of them. Learning how to positively talk to ourselves as we experience our emotions will help us to manage them better.

take good care of you

Coping technique. While my family was falling apart, and my dog died, I got an unreasonable request. I am better now at diplomatically saying NO. However, she questioned and doubted me. She expected accommodation. I said, "I have said I am not able to do this. Regardless of any of my explanation of my reason, you have already judged my decision. I can't accommodate your request.". That was difficult as I am a caregiver and put others first. I now know I must put my own oxygen mask on first in order to be available to help others. With limited physical and mental resources, take care of yourself first....it is the selfless thing to do.
