Please understand that the entire Living with Chronic Pain -A Patient's Perspective (LCP) program is not available on the site. I have shared many aspects of it here and will continue to work from it in future posts. If you are interested in the program, please use the contact section to contact me. I will respond to all inquiries.

The following are sections from the program for your consideration and use.

Inspirational Quotes
You may want to bookmark this page when you're struggling with your pain and are in need of a little inspiration. I have included a section for inspiration because life can be a challenge and life with pain requires a little more strength from us than we feel capable of some days. During my journey I found that inspirational quotes could often challenge my thoughts on life and about my pain. We never know from day to day what might inspire us to keep trying, so for that reason, I include an entry daily in the hope that one day I might share something that will inspire you to make the choice for your life.

If you have something you find inspirational and you would like to share it with others, please contact me.

Inspirational Quotes Part 2
I've been learning a new trick lately and editing some of my photos and I share them with you in this category. Most of the pics have been taken on Dorchester Mill Pond, or near my favourite beach, and many have been taken by my daughter Emily. She's become quite the photographer lately and I'm proud to share them with you here. I hope you enjoy the photos and the inspirational words that go with them.

Thought Therapy
I'd like to share a few things with you, little things that I have learned or experienced along the way. Please understand and accept that these are my feelings and thoughts as well as some experiences I have had. I do not expect that you would also share the same thoughts and I can respect the differences we may have in our thoughts. But as I promised earlier, this is an intensive therapy exercise that would challenge your thought processes.

Please read each thought with an open mind. Acknowledge your feelings as you read each statement. Changing how we think and feel is a challenge. As you go through your process of healing, you may find it helpful to write down the things you have learned about your thoughts. Challenging your own thoughts and beliefs is a part of accepting, healing and living with chronic pain.

I have also included in this section other thought provoking items that inspired and challenged me to think differently about living life with pain.

Health & Wellness
Health and wellness is an important aspect to managing chronic pain. Minimizing life stresses helps to minimize our pain. Adopting healthy life-style choices with regards to the foods we eat and our exercise is also beneficial for our lives. Little steps lead to big life changes and adopting a healthy life-style is a healthy goal to managing pain. Various topics will be covered here for your consideration.

Medication Mondays
Medications used to treat anxiety, depression, chronic pain, sleep, and anything else that piques my curiosity will be detailed. Cautions, warnings, and more will be shared on the prescriptions most often prescribed for people living with chronic pain.  If you have a medication you would like to see featured, please visit the contact section and I will be more than happy to provide it for you. For safe storage and administration of your medications please visit the Health & Wellness category.  I have provided additional important information regarding medications there.

Please understand these entries are NOT meant to replace the conversation with your doctor or pharmacist!! I will be providing the same information you would get from a patient information sheet. If you have further questions from what you may read here, please see your doctor or pharmacist.

I do hope and would greatly appreciate, that if you are taking a featured medication, you will take the time to share your experiences with it. With increased education and understanding of our medications, informed choices can be made.

Spiritual Sundays
One of the things I began doing when I chose to start living my life differently, was to start the conversation going with God again. Now I can respect that we may have different religious beliefs and opinions and I promise I won't go quoting scripture! I don't know the Bible well enough to do that. One thing I have found inspirational is a little "app" called "God wants you to know". Everyday I visit this page and collect my message. Some have been very thought provoking and I'd like to share those with you.

I'm Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired RANT
My goal with this blog is to keep things upbeat, positive and informing. With that being said, I do realize that we all have a need to express the negatives of a life with pain. I'd like to provide an opportunity for that. So when you see an "I'm Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired RANT", join in...it will be the only time I open up this page for negativity.

It's FUNNY
If there is anything that will get you through life...it is your sense of humour. Now fair warning...my sense of humour is wacky, bent, sarcastic and can be dark at times too. I will try to keep to the lighter side of my humour but please know that my main goal is to just tickle your funny bone every once in awhile.

Coping Skills
Life requires coping skills and a life with pain needs healthy and positive coping skills. From relaxation therapies to soothing the senses, learning to cope with pain is possible. When we learn what soothes us, we are learning to take back the control from our pain. Taking care of our needs is very important when living with pain but many say they just don't have the time. I say it is up to you to make the time to learn what soothes you and makes you feel all good inside. Pain will be a part of your life now so if you can learn to cope with it, your pain will have less control within your life.

Open Forum Conversations
When you see these please join in! Your feed-back is important and the information you share just might be what someone else needs to hear at that moment in their healing. We will all experience pain differently but I do believe our combined knowledge is more powerful than we know. Learning from people who are walking their lives in shoes just as dysfunctional as yours can provide information that we just cannot get from the medical community. These entries can be found in the Health & Wellness category.

LCP Boot Camp
In this category you will find 30 Boot Camp daily exercises to help you learn to cope with your pain. These challenges can be incorporated into your daily routine and the cost is nothing but your time and a commitment to yourself. Are you ready to make the changes you need for you moving forward? Good! I hope to hear from you as you check out the Boot Camp.

Odds'N'Ends
Just like your odds'n'ends drawer at home, this category is for all the other entries that don't really fit anywhere else...usually just little notes from me along the way.

Pain Behaviours
When living with pain we can often adopt many negative coping skills. Even without a life of pain, many people struggle with life and face similar issues. Pain can change us in many ways and some changes aren't always for our benefit. Understanding and changing our own behaviours is within our ability. Please be patient with yourself when undertaking this challenge because you are changing behaviours you have learned and/or used throughout your life time. Life-style changes take time but you are worth the effort. I truly believe we can learn to re-condition how we respond to our pain.
