Cupping Therapy

3/31/2015

As an alternative form of therapy many people have turned to cupping therapy to aid in pain management. This form of therapy requires an experienced therapist to perform to ensure it is done safely and without causing harm.

I hope the following information is helpful regarding this treatment form and I would encourage you to speak to your doctor and/or treatment team prior to trying this therapy. There are alternatives to medications though they still require careful consideration, proper monitoring and implementation.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which cups are placed on the skin to create suction. The cups can be made of a variety of materials, including:

·Glass
·Bamboo
·Earthenware

Supporters of cupping therapy believe the suction of the cups mobilizes blood flow to promote the healing of a broad range of medical ailments.

Cupping therapy dates back to ancient Egyptian, Chinese, and Middle Eastern cultures. One of the oldest medical textbooks in the world, theEbers Papyrus, describes how the ancient Egyptians were using cupping therapy in 1,550 B.C.

Tears and Pain

There are times when I can cry at a TV commercial, a song, a kind word...there are many things actually...but one thing I've noticed too is that what I'm crying for isn't really about the TV commercial...it's not about the song...it's about what those things triggered in me...a reminder of the tears and pain that has been suppressed...memories.

Have you ever suppressed your tears and pain? When it finally comes out, and your tears come...do you allow yourself to cry? Do you allow yourself to feel all that you're feeling?

Before we get to the medication I need to remind you...
  • that what I am providing is NOT meant in any way to replace the conversation between you, your doctor, or your pharmacist
  • please do not self-diagnose or make medical decisions about this drug without talking with qualified professionals
  • the information provided here is the reference sheet you would find at WebMD. During my journey I found this site to be helpful in providing support. All credit for this information belongs to them. I copied it right from their website and I have removed the hyper-links. Please visit their site if you would like to read further.

For this installment, I have chosen Bentyl   GENERIC NAME(S): DICYCLOMINE HCL

Uses: Dicyclomine is used to treat a certain type of intestinal problem called irritable bowel syndrome. It helps to reduce the symptoms of stomach and intestinal cramping. This medication works by slowing the natural movements of the gut and by relaxing the muscles in the stomach and intestines. Dicyclomine belongs to a class of drugs known as anticholinergics/antispasmodics.

**Please read this information carefully**
If you have any questions about what is provided here....talk with your doctor or pharmacist please.

Do you ever experience night sweats? Some think it only affects women in menopause but there are many other reasons why someone may experience this...and it can also affect men and children too.

I share this information because there are some medications that can cause this... "Antidepressant medications are a common type of drug that can lead to night sweats. Other psychiatric drugs have also been associated with night sweats." If you experience night sweats...is your medication the cause? If you experience night sweats please speak with your doctor and/or treatment team.

The following article was found on-line at Webmd.com.

8 Causes of Night Sweats

Doctors often hear their patients complain of night sweats. Night sweats refer to excess sweating during the night. But if your bedroom is unusually hot or you are wearing too many bedclothes, you may sweat during sleep, and this is normal. True night sweats are severe hot flashes occurring at night that can drench your clothes and sheets and that are not related to an overheated environment.

Today we believe God wants you to know that if you cannot accept failing, you cannot succeed.

Nothing truly meaningful is achieved on the first attempt, and if that's where you stop, then failure is all you will have.
