Here's a few examples..
Backward thinking...I live with pain now. My life is over
Forward thinking...I live with pain but I still have a life to live
Backward thinking...I can't do what I used to do the same way
Forward thinking...I can find new ways to do what I need to do
Forward thinking...my life has value because I am me and I choose to value myself
Backward thinking...there is nothing I can do to control what is happening within my life
Forward thinking...I may not be able to control everything within my life, but I can control how I will respond and react to what happens
There are many more examples of backward and forward thinking but I think you get the idea. Sometimes we can be "stuck" in how we think, it's easy to do. Challenge your thoughts on your life with pain. Is what you believe really true? Do some of your thoughts need changing? Only you know the answer to that. Only you know if you're a backward thinker or a forward one.
Changing how we perceive the world around us and challenging what we believe to be true isn't always easy but if we're going to change our lives for us...we have to start somewhere right? And changing our thoughts is as good a place as any to start. Change your thoughts. Change your words. Change your life. You can do this!
