There is a lot of talk about the "super greens"...now here's a look at the "power of red". Have any of these fruits and veggies made it into your grocery cart lately? What can you add the next time you're shopping? The food we eat is an important component to managing our pain. When we eat better, we feel better. What's on the end of your fork? Picture taken from Natural Cures Not Medicine It's up to you to find beauty in the ugliest days. ~~Unknown~~ Fall on the pond..taken by Emily...Dorchester Mill Pond, Dorchester, ON Now I know I am not the only one who talks to themselves, and I'm thinking that I'm probably not the only one who even answers themselves back too. Today I'd like to ask you to give thought to how you talk. How you talk to yourself, how you talk to others, what do you talk about, and also what words you use when you're talking.
Let's talk about talk shall we? When talking about your pain..how do you talk? What words do you use to describe your pain and how you're living with it? Give it some thought...if someone were to ask you how you are managing with your pain, how would you respond? What words would you use? Are they positive or negative? Sometimes when people are swamped in the negative of their pain, all they can see around them and within their lives is the negative. Have you noticed this about yourself during conversations with friends or family? It's easy to go down the negative road with our words isn't it? But we also have a choice...make an effort the next time someone asks how you're doing to mention something positive instead of negative. When you focus on the positives the negatives have less power...change your words...change your life. Have you ever experienced feelings of wanting to end your life? Have you ever wished things were over? Now I'm not talking about those days when you're feeling bummed out, or your hair didn't turn out as well as you would have liked, those days you missed the bus and was late for work, or even those days when someone you thought loved you breaks up with you. I'm talking about those days when you couldn't see living beyond the present day, the days when thoughts and feelings of ending your own life brought a sense of peace you've been wanting and searching for. The days when ending your own life felt like your best and only option.
Have you ever felt like that? These feelings don't usually go away in a day or two either do they? No....they stick around and they can bring you down further. Thoughts and feeling such as these pervade every corner in your mind, they affect everything you do, don't they? Mine did too. Feelings like these can be very powerful and hard to ignore when your own thoughts are going down the rabbit hole and you're chasing them trying to figure out "why". This comes to you from a page that helps soldiers dealing with PTSD upon their return home. You don't have to be a soldier to experience these feelings nor to experience PTSD. Have you noticed any of these signs in a loved one? Do you recognize these signs within yourself? Suicide warnings also include...
If you recognize any of these symptoms in yourself please speak to someone you trust. There is help but you need to take the step to reach out for it. There are also confidential crisis lines you call for support as well. Your doctor and other health care professionals can help too. Reach out...you're not alone and your life depends on it. If these symptoms remind you of a loved one..reach out to them. They most likely won't come to you so you will need to go to them. They're hurting and they need you. Sometimes just letting someone know you're there when and if needed, sharing a hug or a laugh or even just sitting quietly supportive, can do a world of wonder to a hurting soul. Please take good care of you and each other Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don't see it yourself. ~~Unknown~~ Picture taken in Collingwood, ON Every once in awhile I like to check in and see how things are going. I usually drop a bunch of questions when I do this, but it's meant only to get you thinking about how you are living with your pain.
Let's see how you're managing lately...
What causes our pain will be different but there are ways in which we can learn to cope with and even manage it. How are you managing lately? Give it some thought okay? If you're saying you're not managing well, may I ask what you're going to do to change that? take good care of you okay? |
