Step One...Understanding and managing your thoughts and emotions...
Pain will impact your emotions and your thoughts on your life...challenge your thoughts before you accept them as fact. Change your words...change your life. Change your thoughts...change your life. Learn what soothes your body and makes you feel good. It's not selfish to focus on your needs mentally, emotionally or physically...they're your needs. Take care of them.
Step Two...Get active in your treatment...
Understand your diagnosis and explore all treatment options. Education is key! What works one day may not the next so have options to turn to when your pain challenges you. There are options and there are things you can incorporate into your life to help you manage your diagnosis...explore all of your options. What helps you cope? What can you do? Don't forget about your diet and exercise too. Have an open line of communication with your doctor, pharmacist and treatment team and ask your questions. Get involved in you medical care.
Step Three...Live your life for you!
Do what makes you happy in your life without worry about the thoughts of others or even your own thoughts of "I can't do this". What makes you feel good? Explore that! What makes you excited to be alive? Go do that more often! Live beyond your pain! Pain may be a part of your life now but you still have a life to live. So LIVE IT! Leave your past where it is and build the life you want for you moving forward...It's your choice.
What steps can you take within your life to prepare for and manage your pain so that it has less impact on your life? Will you take them?
