I think the cholesterol entries should be wrapped up tomorrow and I hope they have helped you to reconsider what you eat and how you cook. There are choices we can make and I encourage you to make the ones you need for you for a healthy life moving forward.
The Helping take care of your cholesterol - the good-start guidebook is produced and offered by the Becel Company and has a wide range of products that can help you lower and manage your cholesterol levels. I am not promoting these products but as the guidebook is produced by this company it comes with several references to their products, webiste, and information available. I have included their website information and I would highly encourage you to check things out for your yourself if you have questions. Your diet is within your full control...will you take the steps for you to live a heart healthy life? Today I'd like to cover the resources that are available to help you in the future... Talk with a Registered Dietitian In addition to your doctor, a Registered Dietitian can give you trusted advice to help lower your blood cholesterol levels. A Registered Dietitian is an expert in food and nutrition who can answer your questions, assess your current diet, create a meal plan for you, and help make changes to your eating habits. Registered Dietitians work in clinics, hospitals and in private practice. I'd like to continue with the guidebook today and hopefully wrap things up tomorrow. I've said a few times now that this guidebook is laid out over a 26 week time period...that's 6 months...please keep in mind that the changes you make in your life should take roughly the same amount of time to complete.
Making serious life changes that will remain with you take time. This is not something you do for a week and then give up. Think about what motivates you to buy the food you buy...are you buying it on an impulse to satisfy a current craving? are your choices healthy for you or are you motivated by what you "really would rather eat"? Your food choices are yours to make and the choices you make can have a beneficial impact on your health as well as your pain. I hope these entries are helping you to make small life choices you will be able to make and keep, as permanent life choices. So, let's get back to the guidebook...heart healthy cooking, baking, and eating out.... When I first looked at this it made me stop and think...to ask myself some hard questions. Do I accept all that I am? Even my pained and hurting parts? Do I love myself? Even when I make a mistake? Do I always make the best choices for myself and my life? Do I know what is best for me? Did you ask yourself the questions as you read them? If not please take the time to ask and answer them now. Whether you said "yes" or "no" please know that you are not alone. It's a daily challenge to accept all that you are and to love yourself. When we're hurting, we don't always make the best choices for ourselves either. Love yourself through your bad choices, accept that you are doing the best you can and try again. It's easy to get lost when trying to do what is best...to feel overwhelmed by the work ahead of you. Hold on to what you know is in your best interests and let the rest go. Love yourself...accept yourself...make your best choices...and know you're not alone. take good care of you okay? Not only do leafy greens help to cleanse the kidneys, cleanse and build the blood... they also help to maintain a healthy blood cholesterol level. Leafy greens are a good way to increase your good (HDL) cholesterol and lower your bad (LDL) cholesterol. There are many benefits to adding leafy greens to your diet...will you detox your body? FOODMATTERS.TV If you turn your mistakes into lessons and your fears into courage...then everything you want from life is achievable. ~~Unknown~~ Fall on the Pond...Dorchester Mill Pond One thing I learned while reading the labels and value charts was that even if a food is high in fat or cholesterol...remember the serving size is only a suggestion...you can cut the serving size in half and that will lower the counts by half as well. You don't have to give up on the things you enjoy because their values are high...cut back on the serving size and still enjoy the foods you just can't live without...for me it's chocolate :) what is yours?
The other thing I learned while reading the labels was that if a packaged food does not come with a Nutritional Value Chart...it has no nutritional value. Have you ever seen these foods in the grocery store? Take a good look at the foods you buy next time and read their labels...if something you like doesn't come with a label it's probably the first thing you should eliminate from your diet. Get smart about your food labels and mange your health...this is something that is fully in your control to change...the only question I have is will you make the healthy changes for you? take good care and I hope you bring your reading glasses the next time you're going to the grocery store Today I'd like to cover the words that come along with the foods you eat. Advertisers are wonderful when it comes to taking pretty pictures for the packaging that comes with our food, but have you ever looked at the words that are on the packages you purchase? If you're wondering what words I'm talking about...I'm talking about the list of ingredients and the nutritional value chart that is on the packing somewhere. Have you looked lately?
It can be scary when you turn the can, box, or package around and search for the list of ingredient and see the nutritional value chart isn't it? Does it make you question your food choices? Does the value chart just seem like a bunch of gibberish? I hope this entry will answer any questions you may have about the words that come with your food choices. I hope too that this will encourage you to go check your cupboard and see what it's inside. (I did! I took pictures too and I was surprised!) So let's get back to the Helping you care for your cholesterol - the good-start guidebook...reading the ingredients list and reading the nutritional value charts.... |
