Can I ask you something?...

I don't know if you have children of your own, but I'd like you to take some time to think about a little one in your life. Whether it's your own child, your niece or nephew or child of a close friend, think of that little one for a moment.

Now while you're thinking of this little one, I want you to imagine saying the following to them...

"You're useless, you're ugly and you'll never amount to anything. You're stupid and a waste of my time. I don't know why I bother with you. You're fat and ugly and not one will ever love you the way you are. If only you would lose a little weight you could be so pretty. Useless excuse for a human being. You're a broken shell of yourself and you should just go away. You're broken and no one will ever love you the way you are."

Would you say anything like the above to the child in your life? Yes? No? If you're saying no, may I ask why not? Why would you not say something mean and hurtful to a child? Then why do you say things like this to yourself then? It hurts just the same. Words hurt and leave bruises we cannot see but last a long time...even the words we say to ourselves.
Now still thinking of that little one in your life, if they came to you needing something, would you deny them? Would you tell that little child their needs were unimportant? I bet you can see where I am going with this now...then why don't you think your own needs are worth being cared for and addressed?

Do you not think you're worth it? For all the reasons you gave for not doing something like this to a little one is the same reasons why you need to stop doing it to yourself. It hurts!! and it destroys the person hearing it...even when it's our own words being heard by our own ears. WORDS HURT!

While thinking about the little one in your life, give some thought to the little person you once were. Imagine every time you tear yourself down, your little you is hearing this and is feeling the pain it causes.

So my challenge to you now is to give thought to why you think you deserve to be trashed, why your needs don't need to be taken care of or cared for...challenge your thoughts on why you feel you deserve this treatment.

take good care of you please and always be gentle...we are just bigger versions of the little ones we once were...be gentle with your little you.
