Being able to get exercise may be difficult for people living with pain. It is important though that even with pain, you move your body as much as you are physically able. Without movement, and proper nutrition, our bodies are not capable of dealing with the added stress of pain. Our muscles will weaken further and that will often find the pain increasing as well.
With muscle loss, our abilities to do things lowers as well. It's a nasty circle if you think about it. What you don't do today, will ensure you still won't do it next week. The phrase "move it or lose it" comes to mind here and brings a new meaning with it. Without movement, we will lose the ability to move.
I know it's hard, but it's so very important that you start to challenge your limitations and push your abilities. Living in our limitations keep our lives static. When we live in our abilities, we are better able to manage our pain, and the stresses that come with life.
With weight gain comes increased pain as well. The more our bodies have to carry, the more stress it endures. Losing weight is easier said than done I know. I've been down that road too and I will say that losing and keeping off any extra weight you may be carrying, is a load off the joints literally and physically.
Exercise and nutrition is an important component to a healthy life-style. We've learned that since we were kids right? Well, when we live with pain, it's even more important for us to achieve and maintain a healthy life-style choice. Take the time to think about what you can do in your life to make healthier choices. There is nothing you can lose here but your excess weight, your unwanted stress, and you may even gain a new wardrobe with the weight you lose.
It is in your ability to take a pro-active approach to what you are experiencing in life because of your pain. What will you do today for you?
Take good care of you
