Well, on days like that...I give myself a hug. Now I know it sounds odd but give it a second. There are times in our lives when we'll have no one around us...days when we're struggling and needing help... times when we need to attend to our physical needs such as needing a hug or a comforting touch...but we're alone. During those moments of our lives, I believe...we can learn to hug ourselves and give ourselves the comforting touch we need. Yes we can!
So here it is...how to hug yourself one step at a time...it does help if you give it a chance.
Wrap your arms around yourself.
Squeeze a little tight.
A little tighter.
A little tighter still.
And when you don't think you could possibly squeeze any tighter.....take a deep breath.
And squeeze a little tighter still.
Hugs...they really are a feel good thing and we can learn to give ourselves those feelings when we need them.
Hugs work because we feel safe in someone's arms...ever notice that? Well...You can learn to feel safe in your own arms too!
