Our identities are more than just what we do for a living, or our diagnosis. When we only identify ourselves by those “titles”, we are disrespecting and limiting ourselves. Everything about who you are as a person hasn't changed. Okay so there are some new things that make up who you are now, BUT... the things that made you a good friend, a loving partner and parent hasn't. Your sense of humour may have taken a knock but what made you laugh before still does today. So instead of dwelling on all that you feel is the negative difference now in your life, count the things that have stayed the same ... the good things that make you you.
