If we're going to spend the rest of our lives living with some degree of pain, why not learn to feel good about the pain? I know this may sound odd but give it a minute. If you sit around all day dwelling on the pain that you have, will it change the level of pain you experience? Chances are, it might actually make the pain feel more hurtful as you dwell on it. What if, on the other hand, you spent your day going for a walk, visiting with a close friend, tooling around in a workshop or even having a big family dinner. You may feel tired and even a little more pain, but you've done something that was enjoyable, dare I say even got out of the house. Point is, it's better to hurt for having done something and feeling good about being active, than hurting just because that's the way life is.
