Now some people think that music therapy only works if you are able to play a musical instrument. That's a myth! Though if you are musically inclined and can play, I probably don't have to tell how good your music makes you feel do I? I myself however, am not musically inclined so I turn to those who are for my inspiration. I will say that there have been moments when I've "air-guitared" or even "air-drummed"...and it felt good! I can bang pots with the best of them.
Music therapy is about allowing the music to flow through your body feeling the beats of the drums, the boom of the bass, allowing the music to move your thoughts, release your stress and soothe your emotions. Music is a feel good thing really. It can lift us up and it can fill us with all sorts of feelings, emotions and even memories too.
Your choices in music may change from day to day, from activity activity...but give thought today to what types of music makes you feel good...what songs move you...and then?...listen to your songs...feel the musical benefits to your body. Allow the music to release your thoughts and the stress you carry with you. Just be the music. If you're feeling energetic today why not grab your partner and do a little dance together? If you're single? Waltz yourself around the room or get down with your funky bad self dancing like no one can see you.
Experience the music in life..there are sounds all around...even in the whispering of the wind through the trees, the calling calls of mating birds...sounds are all around...if you quiet your thoughts you can hear the sounds of the world around you blending into a rhythm all its own. Can you hear it?
Music...it's a feel good thing really.
take good care of you eh?
