it's better to do as little as possible in your life so you can avoid feeling more pain
OR
it's better to do what makes you smile and feel good, being active in your life...even if you will feel more pain
Which thought do you subscribe to and why?
If you've been reading this site or visiting the Facebook page you will know which thought I subscribe to. For those who don't know yet...I'm the second one. I would much rather hurt more for having done something I wanted to do in my life than to hurt just because that's the way life is now...but sometimes too that means the day(s) after is often a write-off or it's a day(s) where I need to go slow.
Now if you're hurting more for having done something...what do you do about it? Do you sit around moping and complaining that you're hurting more or do you smile remembering all that you did...all the memories you are making in your life that make life worth living? Do you take the time to soothe yourself or do you beat yourself up for causing yourself more pain?
We can learn to prepare for our pain so we can be as active as we're able...and we can learn to soothe ourselves when our activities cause us to feel more pain. Life isn't going to stop because we feel pain so why should we? We have a life to live and if we just roll over and give up doing what makes us smile... what kind of life are we living? Are we living? Or are we just existing?
Don't give up doing what makes you smile and feel good about being you because you "may" feel more pain. You're going to feel pain anyway...why not do something that will make you smile in-spite of your pain and then spend sometime soothing yourself? Go do something that makes you smile and enjoy your life...it's a feel good thing.
